Weatherly Citizens Police Academy

Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 citizens police academy!
GET A BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK INTO THE WORLD OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIME SOLVING!

Classes will be held each Wednesday from 6:30-9:00PM From January 4th to March 8th at the Weatherly Borough Police Department 65 West Main Street Weatherly, PA 18255. This is open to people in and around the Weatherly and Hazleton areas.

Topics Include:

• Police Academy Training
• Narcotics investigations and opioids
• Evidence collections
• Traffic law and enforcement
• Patrol and criminal procedure
• Shoot-don’t shoot scenarios
• Court system
• Forensics
• Use of force
• Traffic accident investigation and DUI
• Community relations
• Domestic violence
• Role play scenarios

Participants will be taught by members of the Weatherly Police Department as well as other presenting agencies

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
• MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER
• NEVER BEEN CONVICTED OF A FELONY
• BACKGROUND CHECKS WILL BE CONDUCTED
• MUST HAVE A VALID PA DRIVERS LICENSE

Eligible participants can sign up for the program that offers residents a better understanding of law enforcement, specifically, the role police play in their community.

There is no Cost to attend the Citizens Police Academy.
