Julie Stefanowicz

Julie Stefanowicz was hired as the Weatherly Borough Police Department Secretary in 2022. Before joining the Department, she previously worked as news director at WYLN-TV in Hazleton. She attended Penn State University and later enrolled in the Atlanta Broadcast Institute where she obtained her degree in broadcasting.

Julie spent 16 years working in local news as a videographer and reporter before taking over the position as news director in 2019. While working in the field, she covered many crime-related stories where she became acquainted with members of both local and state law enforcement agencies. Julie also spends time volunteering at the Weatherly and Carbon County Animal Shelters.

Using her background in media, she films police training sessions, classes and community events for both the Police Department and Weatherly Borough. She is also part of the accreditation team which is currently working towards getting the department accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC).
