RESISTING ARREST

On Tuesday June 25th at approximately 1533hrs Weatherly Police were dispatched for reports of a female who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance walking around town. The female was screaming that she did meth and the reporting party was in fear she was going to walk into traffic and harm herself. Officers arrived and located the female from the description given and recognized her from previous contacts as Sharon Brobst, 37, of Zion Grove PA. Brobst displayed multiple signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was told she was being placed under arrest for public intoxication. Brobst began fighting and resisting the Officers that were attempting to take her into custody. Once in police custody she was transported back to the Weatherly Police Headquarters where she again began to fight and resist Officers as they were removing handcuffs to place her into a holding cell. She was provided EMS due to her being under the influence but refused treatment. Charges were approved by Carbon County District Attorneys Office and the Honorable Judge Homanko arraigned her on charges of – 2 counts resisting arrest (M3), 1 count persistent disorderly conduct (M3), and Public Drunkenness (S). Brobst was unable to post $2,000 bail and was remanded to the Carbon County Correctional Facility awaiting preliminary hearing Wed. July 3rd.
