Public Drunkenness

On Friday September 20th 2024 Weatherly Police were dispatched to Woods Ice Cream for a male that appeared intoxicated and was attempting to light items on fire in close proximity to the establishment. Officer Palermo arrived on scene and made contact with a male, Edwin Gerhard, 73 of Weatherly. Officer Palermo observed Gerhard to have a strong odor of alcohol beverage while speaking with him, along with an open container of alcohol. Gerhard stated that he consumed several red solo cups of beer and was lighting papers on fire. Witnesses on scene stated children were in the area and became concerned for their safety due to his actions. Gerhard is charged with 1 count open container (S) and 1 count public drunkenness and similar misconduct (S).

Any information received that was not released by the Weatherly Police Department is considered invalid and should not be deemed official. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
