OFFICERS FAST ACTION HELPS CHOKING VICTIM

On Saturday March 22nd 2025, in the early afternoon, Weatherly Police were dispatched by Carbon County 911 to a residence in the Borough for a female choking victim. The duty Officer responded to the residence realizing that EMS agencies come from neighboring towns and choking can be a matter of seconds before it becomes life threatening. The Officer observed the female gasping for air and was able to make out that she had a piece of food lodged in her airway making it difficult to breath. Our Officer began giving the female several blows with the palm of his hand to her mid-upper back, which the female then took a much relieved deep breath and was able to tell the Officer that she felt the obstruction clear from her airway. Our Officers are trained to handle all sorts of emergencies no matter the situation, not having an EMS unit in the Borough means the Police Department can often be the first line of contact and relay information to responding medical teams, or as in this case, take quick action and prevent a situation from going from bad to worse and potentially saving a life.

Any information received that was not released by the Weatherly Police Department is considered invalid and should not be deemed official. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
