BRUSH FIRE ENDANGERING STRUCTURE

On Monday March 10th at approximately 1210 Weatherly Police and Weatherly Fire Department were dispatched to a brush fire in the area of East Main Street in the Borough. The reporting party told 911 that the fire was moving towards the primary residence at this time. Weatherly Officers arrived on scene within minutes of being dispatched and notified Carbon County 911 of the conditions, with a swift response by the Fire Department, the fire was brought under control with minimal damage to the residence and property. We are fortunate to have a Fire Department with members that are active and fast with their responses when a call comes in.
Investigators with the Police Department were able to locate the cause of the fire being an underground wire that was going to an outbuilding on the property which shorted out and ignited the dry debris in the yard on fire. Units operated on scene for almost 2 hours ensuring there was no more possibility of reignition.
Any information received that was not released by the Weatherly Police Department is considered invalid and should not be deemed official. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
