ASSAULT/FIGHT

On September 16th at approximately 8:27pm, Weatherly Police were dispatched by Carbon County Communications Center to the area of Spring and East Main Streets for 2 males physically fighting outside. Officers had a delayed response due to an unrelated incident with a suspect in custody. When Officers arrived, they located a male with clear injuries to his face evident of a fight. The other actor had already left the scene. Witnesses stated the altercation was the result of an incident that took place earlier in the evening. It was determined the male on scene was the initial aggressor, he was detained by Officers due to being intoxicated and starting an assault. He was transported back to the Police Station where he was able to contact a sober party to pick him up. The male that left the area acted in self-defense and at this time this remains an active investigation into if charges will be filed.

Any information received that was not released by the Weatherly Police Department is considered invalid and should not be deemed official. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
