Officer Jonathan Yaskiewicz

Officer Jonathan E. Yaskiewicz, a 21yr Law Enforcement veteran, joined the Weatherly Police Department as a Part-Time Officer in the spring of 2020. At the current time, after previously retiring from Law Enforcement, Officer Yaskiewicz brought years of experience to assist in enhancing the proficiency and performance of the Weatherly Borough Police Department.

Versed in many aspects of Law Enforcement, Officer Yaskiewicz has attended many hours of training, attained numerous certifications which include Instructor grade certifications and received multiple career commendations issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, Geisinger Medical Center as well as from other Law Enforcement related entities.

His training includes multiple narcotic investigation classes including the prestigious Top Gun Investigators certification, an extensive educational background regarding alcohol offenses, hundreds of hours of Police Supervision and Command, certification as a Thermographer and FLIR systems operator, Tactical Entry and Command, Master Taser Instructor, and certification as a Field Training Officer. Aside from those mentioned above, Officer Yaskiewicz is also a Field Sobriety Instructor, General Law Enforcement Education Instructor and a Firearms Instructor.

Starting in public service at the age of 15 as a Probationary Junior Firefighter, Officer Yaskiewicz has dedicated his adult life to safeguarding the citizens in the communities for which he has served. 

Coming from a disciplined household and a desire to protect those in need, Officer Yaskiewicz’s personal experiences and training have shaped him into the leader his is today. From being selected as a Captain for his high school football team, to a Lieutenant of the Berwick Fire Department at age 18, Officer Yaskiewicz had his career goals and aspirations set early on.

Included in his years of experience, is employment by the Briar Creek Township Police Department, Scott Township Police Department, Bloomsburg Police Department as well as the Millville Borough Police Department where he served as an officer, Corporal, Sergeant and was ultimately promoted to Chief of Police in 2013.

During his tenure as Chief of Police, Officer Yaskiewicz handled the day-to-day functions of the Department all while supervising nine officers and restructuring the Department which included the creation of a new Policy and Procedure Manual as well as entry into the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC). While in command, he was also tasked with the creation of specialized units within which included a Detectives Bureau, Public Relations Division as well as a committee to make schools a safer, more comfortable atmosphere for our greatest asset, the children within the community.

In addition to his command and patrol experience, Officer Yaskiewicz has also spent many years as a member of the Columbia County SWAT Team as well as the Drug Task Force. Officer Yaskiewicz was recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his assistance in a narcotics investigation that spanned over seven states in several months with a successful prosecution of all offenders involved. After learning the basics of Law Enforcement and prior to his command experience, Officer Yaskiewicz handled multiple high dollar financial criminal investigations which led to successful prosecutions.

Most recently, Officer Yaskiewicz has attained his Commercial Motor Carrier Inspection Officers certification from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance in coordination with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Alliance certifying him as a Federal Motor Carrier Officer for Canada, the United States of America and Mexico.

Officer Yaskiewicz is pleased to be able to continue is lifelong dream of being a Law Enforcement Officer while serving the Weatherly Borough citizens.
