INDECENT ASSAULT

On September 16th Officer Eyer and Officer Hantz took a report from a female victim who was visibly upset about an incident that took place shortly beforehand at her place of employment within the Borough. She stated that during an encounter with another male employee, he used his maintenance keys to unlock a closet in which he took her inside and the door then locked. She reported that while she was in the closet with him, he had inappropriate contact with her without her consent. She told him to stop and she got out of the closet before finding a co-worker and reported the incident to the administration personnel. Further investigation led to Officer Eyer and Officer Hantz locating the suspect, Edward J ROCHE, 59, of Weatherly and brought him in for questioning. During questioning ROCHE ultimately provided a statement which corroborated the victims’ allegations of the incident. At the conclusion of the interview, charges of 1 count of Indecent Assault (M2), and 1 count of Harassment (M3) were filed by Officer Eyer and approved by on call Carbon County ADA Rapa. ROCHE was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility where he remains with a $5,000 straight bail.

Any information received that was not released by the Weatherly Police Department is considered invalid and should not be deemed official. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
