WEATHERLY POLICE DEPARTMENT JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY

The Weatherly Police Department is proud to announce that it will be hosting its 2024 Junior Police Academy this fall. The Academy is open to school age youth in the 7th to 12th grades. Cadets will learn about and use the tools and equipment used by members of law enforcement. Some of the lessons learned during the Academy will include how to process a crime scene, observe taser demonstrations, fingerprinting, CPR and first aid along with virtual reality (VR) training, all while working closely with members of the Weatherly Police Department and various other law enforcement agencies.

The Academy is open to Weatherly Area School District students who are interested in learning the day-to-day duties of police officers or who may be interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Cadets will meet every Tuesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm beginning on September 17th, 2024 (with the possibility of one Saturday class). The Academy runs from September 17th to November 19th 2024.

Interested individuals can pick up an application at the police station at 65 West Main Street in Weatherly or visit our website at www.weatherlypd.com.
